First Meritorious Service Award to Victoria

In conjunction with Martial Arts Industry Services Inc (the AKWF Insurance Administration Agency) AKWF President Walt Missingham has announced the first AKWF Meritorious Service Award.

This annual award, which includes a one thousand dollar prize, acknowledges the efforts of AKWF State and National Committee members. The 2008 award is shared between Victorian Branch Chairman Dana Wong and Victorian Branch Deputy Chairman Terry Lim. In making this award Walt commented:

"I acknowledge the performance and selfless dedication exhibited by Dana Wong and Terry Lim of the Victorian branch. Under the most difficult conditions and with a number of Victorian members trying to undermine the efforts of our organisation from within, Dana and Terry have stuck to job at hand when lesser men would have given up. They have been honest where others were duplicitous, they have put the welfare of our organization first where others acted only in the most odious self-interest, they have acted as leaders in the true sense of the word. Their performance is an example to the entire organisaton and I want this award to reflect the AKWF's official thanks to these two men for not only a job well done but for exhibiting a character and example to others that typifies the highest ideals of the martial arts - ideals it would seem that others have long since forgotten. On behalf of the AKWF our sincerest gratitude is therefore extended to Dana and Terry – most deserving recipients of our first Meritorious Service Award."
