The AKWF has committed to the ASC's governance principles of best practice. The AKWF is Governed by 'The Committee' and managed by the 'National Executive Administrative Sub Committee' - known as the 'Executive Committee'. The Executive Committee comprises all members of 'The Committee' plus others included for their administrative, legal or financial expertise.

The Committee is elected every 24 month by a vote of all voting members. The Committee and Executive may be assisted by other Sub-Committees' These Sub-Committees are formed on a needs basis to deal and advise with such matters as deemed necessary by 'The Committee' or the Executive.
